Nashville, Main Rail

Matthew & Karine Maynard. Nashville, Main Rail, 2009. Forged, welded and lathe turned pieces, hand-formed leaves, inlaid marble accents and burled maple components with design details done in pyrography. Mild steel, bronze, brass, Brazilian Cherry, Burled Maple, copper and marble. Wire-brushed with clear enamel finish.

At over 160 feet in length and residing in a large space, the newel posts of this floating curved staircase were designed to be a solid trunk from which the rest of the metalwork could emerge. Surrounding elements within the home were echoed in the details, including copper, brass, stone and wood.
